Saveur again (WOF:6)

Bonjour! Visited the new Saveur outlet with the Bestie Gail.

Bon Appétit!

Saveur
14 Scott's Road
Far East Plaza
#01-07B
Singapore 228213

Food is still really good! And I found something nicer than the duck leg confit🙈<- it's a monkey covering his face emoji
I'm sorry duck!! I like the chicken more.

Started off with the usual appetizer!

Saveur's Pasta $4.90
- pasta tossed with chilli oil, fine-chopped Japanese Konbu & Sakura Ebi topped with minced pork sauce

This was still as amazing as ever! Excellent al-dente texture and topped with simple ingredients but still tastes delightful. Yay! Not to mention the pretty twirly presentation ;)

Duck $10.90
- duck leg confit, homemade mashed potato, sautĂ©ed shiitake mushrooms, orange segments & prange infused natural jus

(I have no idea what prange is - google doesn't either so if you do, drop me a note!)

The meat was a tad dry but the flavor made up for it. Absolutely love love love the mashed potato. It's real & not the powdered ones hahahah! #spoilt
The mushrooms & the orange segments were flavorful too.

Chicken $9.90
- a roulade of chicken thigh stuffed with foie gras infused chicken farce*, creamy basmati rice & Parmesan sauce

*farce is seasoned stuffing or alternatively a light humorous play

My new favorite. Everything about this is wonderful. The chicken was soooooo tender & the rice was like perfection.
Rice  + chicken + sauce = heaven in your mouth. <3 the portion looked a bit small tho. Gail had this. She doesn't eat much so it was just right for her.

Happy us with our yummy food soon to be in our tummies! :)

Total bill added up to $30+ but it was quite worth it. Would definitely go back since its in a more convenient place now!

Oh I had a pretty awesome lunch too.
Tori-Q! Yummy Japanese affordable bento.

We ate so much today. Eating>shopping
Expect the unexpected hahaha!
Had Seafood tempura(Me) & Fried Mars Balls w Ice Cream(Gail & Mags). Guilty pleasures cos my exams are over muahahah.

Oh and I might as well conveniently make this into a WOF post. :)

Will update on other stuff soon! I finally finished MYES!

Cheetah!

Hey everyone! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you would've found out that I have a new pet........

Kitten!
Yes it's indeed a miracle that I actually have a growing kitten as my mum doesn't really like animals in her house cos they are messy. But this kitten was a different story!

How I found it?
My mum saw it stuck in the water near the playground and no one was helping it so she called me to come down and bring a towel to dry it off and bring it up so that it won't be left in the rain and that's how I got my Kitten, who is now happily named Cheetah which was decided by my family.

Quite happy that Cheetah is always around at home now even thought I never really expected to be owning a cat. I like dogs more really. But still thankful<3

Together as One

Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't touched this space for such a long time! Have been really busy with studies and CCA plus I have been sick for over two weeks now. I am recovering and that is a good thing!

If you did not know, my older sister, Kirstie, got married last year on 29th December 2012!
It was an exciting and romantic affair that went smoothly and everyone looked so so so good! Weddings make me feel joyful, and especially this one since I was involved in!

My sister is the oldest grandchild/niece/daughter and so her wedding was the first one for our side of the family.

Before I start with the photos, I would like to share a bit of my experience and advice to fellow younger sisters or those who are involved in upcoming weddings.
Disclaimer:
I know I am only 16 and all so if you don't think I am qualified to share on this, just skip this part.
(don't worry, it will be short and sweet I promise)

Firstly, be prepared to walk around the whole day in heels and your feet will hurt so wearing 5/6/7 inches will not be advisable if you are going to be helping in the preparations. Stick to lower heels or bring a pair of presentable flats that can fit into your clutch or be left in the car so that your aching feet can get some rest.

Secondly, you might have to run around quite a bit if you are a bride's maid so bring tissues and oil blotting paper. This will help to ensure that you do not look sweaty and sticky in photos as Singapore's environment is hot and humid.

Thirdly, no matter what happens, just smile and move on! What's done is already done so don't cry over spilt milk but wipe it up instead. Weddings are joyous and happy occasions so remember to enjoy yourself and don't stress up!

Moving on to my sister's wedding pictures,
I think everyone looked so good looking on that day and the photos were really well taken! *claps*

Starting with the march in,
the wedding ceremony was help at Queenstown Lutheran Church which was conveniently located near my house hehe!

Worship was next. Love the framing of this photo.

Signing of the wedding certificate - ITS OFFICIAL!

Photo taking session with the couple.

Wedding cake beautifully hand-made by my mum's friend.

Oh goody

Made cornflake butter cookies today! Took me around an hour and I managed to fill 2 jars. One small and one medium. Not bad I'd say! Will share the recipe in another post. I did a lot of agaration!
Tastes really yummy and Singaporean-ish and thank you Angxin for introducing it to me!

Simplicity

Simple food for the sick

Signed out of school today for the first time in my life. I made history today!

Prepared a salad for recess tomorrow cos my stomach can't take dairy products (except cheese :P) and fried food. For now. :-)

I love this one dish meal as it is so easy to prepare and you can just store it in the refrigerator for the next day or eat it immediately. Only takes less than 15 minutes!

Hahahah!

Ingredients:
• One head of butterhead
(that's what it's really called!)
• 4 Crabsticks
• 1 small onion
• Grated cheese

Peel the good leaves of the butterhead and rinse them thrice.
Place them in a basket and dry them by shaking the basket and letting it sit for 5 minutes.

Place 4 crab sticks into a bowl of water and microwave it for 3 minutes.
Take it out and slice it.

Peel the first layer of the small onion away and slice it up - bite sized.
Rinse the onions.

Grate your block of cheese or use store bought grated cheese.

Place all together and mix well!

Feel free to add in more ingredients of your own choice.

Top it off with balsamic vinegar, some olive oil or thousand island! Enjoy your healthy meal:-)

Secondly,
I made Hasselback potatoes!
These are really simple to make and further more, they taste really really good.

Ingredients
• Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
• Fine sea salt
• Black pepper
• Olive oil
• Grated cheese
• Butter

Preheat your oven to 210 degree Celsius.

Rinse and scrub the potatoes. You can choose either to peel the skin off or leave it there. I chose to leave it there!

Slice the potatoes thinly but not all the way to the end so that the sections are still connected to the base.

Sprinkle the sea salt and black pepper on the potatoes. Ensure that the insides are coated too!

Douse the potatoes with olive oil and bake them into the oven for 60 minutes (Russet) or 50 minutes (Yukon Gold).

Ten minutes before the potatoes are done, take them out and put your cheese atop the potatoes.

Take the potatoes out when the timer is done and serve hot with a spoon of butter!

What I like about this recipe is that you can eat the potatoes with any sauce you desire - sour cream, butter, tomato sauce etc and it still tastes delectable. Try it out!!

What's in my cosmetics pouch? (January)

What's in my cosmetics pouch!

My mum bought this cosmetics pouch for me in Thailand and I love it cos it comes with a built in mirror so that I can use it in emergencies or when my friends or I want to put on make up ahaha. (Jia Ning and Candy especially)

It only costs around $4-5 so do check it out if you go to Thailand! Super worth the money.

Gonna be sharing about what I carry around! It may change occasionally so I'll share it 2-4 monthly!

1. Volume Lash Fiber
Its by some Japanese brand and I got it in Watsons! Just check out the Japanese cosmetics section and you'll probably be able to find it.

2. Moisture Care Lip Balm - Nivea
This is so essential for my everyday usage as I have really dry lips. Can be found in Watsons too.

3. Born Lippy - The Body Shop
Blogged about this before and how I love it a lot! Check out the other post here.

4. Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner - Maybelline
Best liner ever! The brush is really thin and its really easy to apply on.
It can also be removed with water which is a pro and con at the same time  - Can be removed without oil based makeup removals
- can't be worn when you're feeling emotional

5. Clear Smooth BB Stick - Maybelline
Glides on easily and conceals well too.  yay for this!

6. SPF130 Sunblock - Sunplay
Sunblock is super important in maintaining your skin! Its like the most most most important step you should take everyday. I know we all like to have that tan and glowy skin but the UV rays are very damaging and we should start taking care of our skin NOW.

7. Gardeners Hand Therapy - Crabtree & Evelyn
I love Crabtree & Evelyn's moisturizers and I have a few of them. I personally like the smaller sized ones as they are light enough to carry around.

8. Daisy - Marc Jacobs
Always carry a small bottle of perfume around! Smell good, look good.

9. Powdered Oil Clear Paper - Gatsby
Singapore is really humid and somehow it causes more oil to be secreted so this is vital in keep our faces oil free! This one is powdered too thus giving your face a cleaner feel.

That's all for today!

4. Mix well and serve hot!

2. Tom Yam Chicken
